Highly-rated Ghanaian midfielder Fatawu Ganiwu remains on the radar of several big European clubs despite completing his move to Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv, his former club director, Dela Quayson, has revealed exclusively to Footy-Africa.
The 18-year-old joined Dynamo Kyiv from Ghanaian Division Three side AS Koppan on a three-year contract and has already started settling into life at his new club.
Ganiwu has begun training with Dynamo’s U-21 side after completing his move to Ukraine and is expected to push for promotion to the senior team. He also made his U-21 debut on Tuesday, coming on in the 69th minute of Dynamo’s 3-0 victory over Epicentr.
Quayson believes the move represents an important step in the teenager’s development and could eventually lead to a switch to one of Europe’s major leagues.
“Fatawu Ganiwu’s move is a good one. I believe it is a step in the right direction for both him, the player, and also AS Koppan as a club. I mean, he is our first international transfer,” Quayson told Footy-Africa.
“We all know the kind of talent he is, or the enormous talent he’s got. So we believe it’s a step in the right direction. He goes there, he gets to understand European football, and then we see him in the major leagues.”
Ganiwu has already attracted attention from several high-profile European clubs, having previously trained or gone on trial with Chelsea, Bournemouth, Brentford and RB Salzburg.
His spell at Chelsea was particularly significant, with the Ghanaian spending a month at Cobham training with the club’s U-18 and U-21 sides and featuring in youth matches.
Quayson believes those clubs have not lost sight of the midfielder despite his move to Ukraine.
“I mean, he’s already been there to trials with many of the big clubs. He’s still on their radar,” he said.
“So after a couple of seasons, we believe the name of Fatawu would become a household name.”
Ganiwu has represented Ghana at several youth levels and was part of Maxwell Konadu’s Black Satellites squad at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.
His move to Dynamo Kyiv marks the first international transfer involving an AS Koppan player, with the club hoping the teenager can use his time in Ukraine as a platform for the next stage of his European career.
