Nigerian forward Solomon John has signed a new three-year contract extension with Czech Republic Fortuna Liga club Mladá Boleslav, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
The versatile attacker has committed his long-term future to the Central Bohemian club following an impressive run of form that has seen him establish himself as a key figure in the squad.
John has made a blistering start to the new campaign, registering three goals and three assists in his opening appearances.
Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, the forward admitted that extending his stay was an easy choice given his current trajectory at the club.
”About the new deal, yes, I’m excited because it’s a good deal for me,” John told Footy-Africa. ”I’m playing regularly at the club, and everything is going well with me and with the team. So, I would like to continue here—it’s not a problem to continue.”
’The sporting project convinced me’
Mladá Boleslav’s ambitious sporting project and the tactical alignment under the coaching staff proved to be the decisive factors in the negotiations. John highlighted how the team’s style of play has unlocked his best form on the pitch.
”What convinced me about signing the new deal for the next three years? Well, the project is going on with the club, and the coach really helped me with my game,” John explained.
”You can see from the few matches we have played this season. I have three goals and three assists, and the formation and tactics are working for me. So why not? I love the club’s project, and I want to continue to help the club finish in the top four or top five.”
Playing a leadership role
Beyond tactical fit, John pointed to the upward developmental curve the club has experienced since the backend of the previous campaign, noting that statistics back up their status as one of the most attractive footballing sides in the Czech top flight.
”The club’s sporting project is the main thing that convinced me,” John added. “Plus, from the autumn part of last season, we started playing really well. If I am not mistaken, we are the best club playing good football in the Czech Republic, according to the statistics.”
”We have a lot of young players and a few older players. Now, I am among the experienced players in the club and one of the oldest. So, I want to continue here and see where it will end.”
John will look to maintain his fine scoring and creative touch when Mladá Boleslav resume domestic league action as they chase a coveted European finish.
