English Premier league outfit Manchester United completed the signing of Cameroon winger Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford in July, seven weeks after the club made their first official bid for his signature.

The deal is valued at about £71 million, which was accepted by Brentford for his transfer. The Red Devils suffered a dismal 2024/25 campaign with their joint-worst finish and point tally since the 1973/74, highlighting the need for a summer rebuild.

Manager Ruben Amorim’s side have significantly strengthened the squad, with the additions of the Cameroon forward and top signings including Mattheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.

“Mbeumo to Manchester United is a masterstroke of a signing,” – legend, Fortune

Mbeumo puts to pen a five-year deal, with his wages reported to be £200,000 per week and £10.4 million annually. He is expected to earn a potential £52 million in wages and bonuses over the course of his five years at the Red Devils.

The 25-year-old has developed into one of the best attackers in the English Premier league, including scoring 20 goals and seven assists in the league last season, the third most contributions only behind Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak, highlighting remarkable improvements.

Manchester United paid a guaranteed £65 million in four installments, plus a potential £6 million in performance-related add-ons.

The Red Devils had several bids rejected by Brentford for the services of Mbeumo, until a £71 million deal was agreed between both clubs.

They fended off interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Thomas Frank, who had managed the forward at the Bees before joining Spurs this summer.

Salary breakdown: how much will Mbeumo earn?

Per Capology, Mbeumo is expected to earn a basic salary of £7.8 million annually and £2.6 million in bonuses, totaling £10.4 annually.

The Cameroonian becomes one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history, with the total investment in his signature reported to amount up to £123 million.

From West London to Manchester

Mbeumo joined Brentford in 2019 from French side Troyes and was an influential figure alongside Ivan Toney as the club gained promotion to the English Premier League for the first time in 74 years in 2021.

He scored 70 goals and provided 51 assists in 242 appearances for the Bees during his six-year spell at the club.
