British-born Nigerian attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze‘s transfer saga takes an unexpected twist as Arsenal have reached an agreement with Crystal Palace over his transfer, journalist Fabrizio Romano confirms.

The breaking news come after multiple reports that Tottenham would be Eze’s new home as Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy started direct talks with his Crystal Palace’s colleague Steve Parish.

“BREAKING: Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties. Crystal Palace to receive a package in excess of Β£60 million, as Eze preferred Arsenal to Spurs. Arsenal win race over Tottenham, been in advanced talks for days but never sealed,” Romano announced.

The 27-year-old Transfermarkt value is estimated at around €60 million.

Eze joined Palace from QPR for an initial €17.80 million fee in 2020, and has improved his goal and assists output in each of the past three seasons. Last year, he registered 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 games across all domestic competitions.

Eze already took part in the first two games of the season for Palace, helping The Eagles secure a win against Liverpool in the Community Shield game and a draw against Chelsea in an EPL season-opener at Stamford Bridge.
