Failed medical check up due to past injuries became the reason why Victor Boniface could not complete his long anticipated move from Bayer Leverkusen to AC Milan, the player admitted himself.
“At a certain point, I gave up. When others were playing football, I was just working to get back into it. After my second anterior cruciate ligament injury, I didnโt even want to play any more because of the pain from the first and what I went through with the second,” he said live on Twitch, Sempre Milan notices.
“During that time, I also lost my mother. AC Milan? The transfer didnโt work out because of my past injuries. Iโve had two right knee injuries, and itโs something Iโve been dealing with for a long time,” Boniface added.
Last week, the 24-year-old spent 48 hours in Milano for the medical and never got a green light to finalise the deal.
Previously, Bayer and AC Milan reached agreement over Bonifaceโs transfer and started to prepare official documents. The clubs decided on a loan deal with a non-mandatory โฌ30 million buy option clause.
Last season, the Nigerian international scored 11 goals in 27 matches across all competitions.
