English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the verge of completing a move for Nigerian international Christantus Uche from Getafe, amid financial difficulties for the Spanish club.
The deal is reportedly worth around €20 million, €5 million below his release clause, with Getafe making a significant profit after signing him for just €500,000 over a year ago.
The Spanish club has been under pressure to sell their star man despite having three years left on his contract due to La Liga strict salary regulations, with his departure set to make space available for the registration of new arrivals at the club this summer.
Uche is expected to sign a five-year deal at the Molineux, with a significant pay rise on the current €180,000 he earns annually at Getafe, and he could earn well over €900,000 in his time at the English club.
The 22-year-old is set to embrace a new challenge with his potential move to England since he became a revelation after his switch from defensive midfield to attack last season, contributing to 11 goals in 38 appearances last season.
Transfer fee and contract details
Wolverhampton Wanderers are expected to pay a guaranteed €16 million fee plus €4 million in performance and appearances related add-ons to sign the versatile Nigerian attacker.
The fee is €5 million below his initial €25 million release clause, with the English side set to beat the likes of AC Milan, OGC Nice, Everton and Fenerbahce to his signature.
Wolves have struggled for goals in the English Premier League this season and will be buoyed by the arrival of the Nigerian star, who is expected to undergo his medicals in the coming days after the agreement has been sealed by both clubs.
