Despite reports linking him to several teams—including Swiss top-flight side FC Basel and two-time CAF Champions League winners Asante Kotoko FC—youngster Kwesi Sorotu Badori has yet to enter into talks with any club regarding a move away from Berekum Chelsea, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

Reports had suggested that the highly rated 17-year-old was close to a move to Basel, with an agreement in principle reportedly in place. Other sources indicated that Asante Kotoko were also monitoring the situation and preparing to make a move.

However, while interest in Sorotu is genuine, no club has made formal contact with either the player or his current side, Berekum Chelsea. A source close to the player revealed that although Sorotu is flattered by the Basel links, he remains grounded and focused on his development.

“He’s an extremely talented player, and the Basel links are a reflection of his potential. But is there a deal or any contact in the past month? The reality is that there haven’t been any talks with any club yet. It’s something that would excite him if it happened, but for now, there’s nothing concrete. He’s calm, composed, and fully focused on working hard. He knows his time will come,” the source told Footy-Africa exclusively.

Despite his young age, Sorotu has made a significant impact in the Ghana Premier League this season, starting 28 of Berekum Chelsea’s 33 matches. A defensive midfield prodigy, he has contributed a goal and an assist. He was promoted from the club’s junior team just last year.

On the international stage, the player—who has a Transfermarkt valuation of €50,000—has yet to receive a call-up to Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars. However, at his current trajectory, it appears to be a matter of when, not if.
