CAF confirms Morocco as host of African World Cup 2026 Intercontinental Qualifier Tournament

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, has unveiled full details for the African Intercontinental Qualification Tournament for the FIFA World Cup 2026, confirming venues, fixtures, and kickoff times.

The four-nation showdown, featuring Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, and Nigeria, will unfold in Rabat, Morocco, between November 13 and 16, 2025.

The mini-tournament will determine which African team advances to the FIFA Intercontinental Play-off Tournament in March 2026, the final step toward claiming the continent’s 10th World Cup slot.

Tournament overview

Two stadiums in Rabat, El Barid Stadium and the Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex, have been chosen to host the fixtures. The semi-final pairings and venues will be decided by draw, though match times and order have been confirmed.

The curtain-raiser on Thursday, November 13, will see Nigeria square off against Gabon at 5:00 PM local time (4:00 PM GMT), setting the stage for an evening of high-stakes football. Later that night, at 8:00 PM local time (7:00 PM GMT), Cameroon will lock horns with the Democratic Republic of Congo in the second semi-final.

The tournament will culminate on Sunday, November 16, with the final scheduled for 8:00 PM local time (7:00 PM GMT) at the Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex, where the eventual winner will move one step closer to the global stage.

Match 1: Nigeria vs Gabon – 5:00 PM local time (4:00 PM GMT)

Match 2: Cameroon vs Democratic Republic of Congo – 8:00 PM local time (7:00 PM GMT)

Final: Sunday, November 16 – 8:00 PM local time (7:00 PM GMT), Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex

The champion of this Rabat-based tournament will represent Africa in the FIFA Intercontinental Play-offs, vying for a coveted place at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
