Former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Alex Song in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has backed Manchester United’s new signing Bryan Mbeumo to thrive at Old Trafford and rise to become one of Europe’s top players in the coming years.
The former Cameroonian star, believes his compatriot has the mentality, work ethic, and talent to succeed at the highest level.
Mbeumo joined Manchester United in a high-profile move from Brentford during the summer window and has already made an instant impact with his pace, creativity, and eye for goal. He has scored five goals and assisted once in 11 appearances. His performances have earned him praise from several football figures, including Song, who sees the 26-year-old as a key player for both club and country.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, Song said he has no doubt about Mbeumo’s potential to shine on the biggest stages:
“Bryan is a very special player. I’ve trained with him and watched him grow with the national team, his mentality is incredible. He doesn’t get distracted by pressure or fame; he just wants to work, improve, and help his team. That’s what makes him different.”
“At Manchester United, he’s at a club that suits his ambition. He has the pace, the intelligence, and the courage to take on defenders, and with the quality around him, I believe he’ll become one of the best forwards in Europe within the next two or three years. The fans will see just how good he is,” he added.

“For Cameroon, it’s also a blessing. Having a player like Bryan competing at that level raises the standards for everyone. I’m proud of him, and I’m sure he’ll make our country and Manchester United fans very happy,” Song concluded.
Mbeumo left Brentford after six seasons, where he made 236 appearances, netting 69 times and assisting on 47 occasions. For Cameroon, he has scored seven and assisted two in 22 caps.
