Fulham vs Sunderland Match Preview

Fulham head into the clash hoping to record a second straight win at the Craven Cottage, after a commanding 3-0 win over Wolves on match-day 10. Marco Silva’s men have found form difficult to come by this season, with a couple of uninspiring displays.

The Cottagers currently occupy the 15th position on the standings and are a single point from the drop zone after 11 rounds of matches. They have won just three times in the league all season, recording two draws and losing six matches.

Sunderland, meanwhile, are the surprise team of the season so far and have found themselves in the top four having won five and drawn four of their opening 11 matches in their first top-flight campaign in eight years.

The Black Cats have lost just one of their last nine league matches and recorded an impressive 2-2 draw against league leaders Arsenal in their previous outing.

Fulham vs Sunderland Head-to-Head Record (Last five meetings)

  • 08.02.2023 – Sunderland 2-3 Fulham
  • 28.01.2023 – Fulham 1-1 Sunderland
  • 27.04.2018 – Fulham 2-1 Sunderland
  • 16.12.2017 – Sunderland 1-0 Fulham
  • 03.02.2015 – Fulham 1-3 Sunderland

This fixture has been relatively balanced in recent outings, with both sides claiming two wins apiece. This will also be a first meeting between both teams in the EPL since Sunderland claimed a 4-1 win at the Craven Cottage in 2014.

Recent Form: Fulham

Fulham have been relatively poor in recent outings, with only two wins recorded in their last seven games in all competitions.

The Cottagers have won five of their seven matches at home in all competitions this season, losing once – a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, and recording a single draw.

Recent Form: Sunderland

Sunderland have been very impressive in the league this season, although they are winless in their last two matches, having recorded two draws against Everton and Arsenal.

Both of the Black Cats defeats in the league this season have come away from home, although they recorded a shock 2-1 win over Chelsea in their last trip.

Player to Watch: Samuel Chukwueze (Fulham)

The Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze has made an impact despite limited minutes and may be in line for his first start since arriving in the summer.

Chukwueze’s dribbling and quality delivery could pose a major threat for Fulham as they hope for a favourable outcome from this clash.

Prediction
