Latvian Premiership side FL Jelgava will complete the signing of Nigerian defender Samuel Asogbon from Dino Sporting Club in January 2026, Footy-Africa understands.

An agreement was reached between the two clubs in August 2025 for the highly rated youngster, who has already signed a three-year contract.

Dino Sporting Club chairman Samuel Columbus told Footy-Africa exclusively that Asogbon is expected to travel to Latvia in January to finalise paperwork and be formally unveiled by his new club.

The clubs are currently working on the player’s visa to allow him link up with his new team-mates.

β€œSamuel was scouted at a very young age during one of my routine nationwide programmes held in Okitipupa, Ondo State,” Columbus exclusively told Footy-Africa.

β€œI saw him early, took him in, nurtured, developed and profiled him. We are delighted with his progress and he is one of the players to watch for the future.”

Asogbon has captained Dino Sporting Club for three consecutive years and also led a selected side that represented the club at the Viareggio Cup in Italy.

He has won several grassroots honours with Dino SC and is regarded as a future national team prospect.

The defender is expected to follow a similar path to Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Tolu Arokodare, who began his European career in Latvia before spells in Germany, France and Belgium, and now plays in England.
