Despite reports that a deal for Tolu Arokodare to newly promoted English Premier League side Burnley is close, his camp and his Belgian Pro League club, Genk have yet to register formal contact or receive a bid, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

Following an impressive campaign in Belgian Pro League, the 24-year-old forward has been the subject of interest from multiple sides across Europe. Reports earlier this week indicated that Burnley, in their pursuit to sign a talisman, had entered talks for a signing.

Meanwhile, Arokodare’s contract will not expire until the end of the 2026/27 campaign. The forward notched 23 goals and registered six assists across the Jupiler Pro League and the domestic Cup. He was the joint league top-scorer with 21 goals in the 2024/25 season. An exclusive source at CAA Base Limited, who are the player’s representatives, has disclosed that there’s no contact whatsoever at this point.

“Media outlets have linked him (Arokodare) to all sorts of teams in the past months, but frankly, there hasn’t been any form of contact at the moment. Will he leave Genk? Well, he has a running contract and he is happy at the club. But in football, you can’t rule out anything, as things can happen so fast. But at the moment, we haven’t met anyone for transfer business,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

Arokodare joined Genk from French outfit Amien SC, where he played for two campaigns, making 63 appearances, scoring 21 goals with four assists. In the past, he featured for German side Koln and Latvian side Valmiera FC.

Meanwhile, internationally, Arokodare made his Super Eagles (Nigeria national senior team) debut this year during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. He has since completed four caps.
