Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa stated that Nigeria are determined to win the Africa Cup of Nations but must remain focused on taking the tournament one game at a time.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa, the striker warned against putting unnecessary pressure on the squad despite growing expectations following an impressive group-stage campaign.
Three-time African champions Nigeria will face Mozambique in the last 16 and are widely seen as favourites to reach the quarter-finals.
The Super Eagles arrived at the tournament under pressure to deliver success, with many fans viewing AFCON glory as compensation for failing to qualify for the World Cup. Victories in all three group matches have since renewed belief among supporters.

Onuachu says the players are fully aware of what is at stake.
“Before coming here, we have it at the back of our mind to win the AFCON but we have to take it each game at a time and avoid putting unnecessary pressure on ourselves,” he told Footy-Africa.
The Trabzonspor forward marked his return to the national team by scoring against Uganda and said he was delighted to be part of the squad.
“It’s always great to represent your national team and it is the dream of every player. I’m happy to be here and will give my best to help the team,” he added.
Monday’s match will be only the sixth senior international meeting between Nigeria and Mozambique.
The encounter will take place at the 35,000-capacity Complexe Sportif de Fès, which has hosted Nigeria throughout their Group C campaign, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 local time on Monday, 5 January.
