Latvian champions RFS Futbola Klubs have turned down a transfer offer from Portuguese second-tier side FC Alverca for their rising star, Haruna Rasid Njie, Footy-Africa has learned. The Gambian midfielder, currently valued at €400,000, has become a key figure in the RFS squad since his arrival in January 2024.
Njie has made a significant impact in a short period, playing a crucial role in helping RFS clinch the Latvian Higher League title as well as securing the Super Cup silverware. His dynamic midfield presence, technical ability, and work rate have drawn widespread attention across Europe, with several top Belgian clubs closely monitoring his development.
So far into his second season with RFS, Njie has made 11 appearances, continuing to showcase consistency and maturity beyond his years. The 21-year-old’s performances have not gone unnoticed, and while FC Alverca made a formal approach to sign him, RFS swiftly rejected the offer, indicating that the club views Njie as a cornerstone for their domestic and European ambitions.
Sources close to the club suggest that RFS considers the Portuguese club’s offer to be well below their valuation of the player. The Latvian side remains confident in Njie’s potential to rise to higher levels and appears intent on retaining him unless a significantly improved bid is presented—likely from a club competing in a top European league.
With the summer transfer window heating up and Belgian clubs keeping a close eye on Njie, it remains to be seen whether RFS can hold onto their prized asset. For now, however, Haruna Rashid Njie remains firmly in RFS colours, focused on continuing his impressive trajectory in Riga.
