Ghanaian youngster Lord Afrifa will remain at Austrian side Sturm Graz for the upcoming season as he continues his development, a source close to the player has exclusively revealed to Footy-Africa.

The 19-year-old defensive midfielder, who joined Sturm Graz from Ghanaian side Greek Corinthians in 2024, featured for the club’s second team last season. He made 24 appearances, registering one assist, and is now targeting a breakthrough into the senior team.

“Lord didn’t play for the senior team last season, but that was never the immediate expectation,” the source said. “The plan has always been for him to take his time, adjust to the European game, and develop step by step. The club is happy with his progress so far.”

Afrifa, who has a market value of €175,000, has a contract with Sturm Graz that runs until 2026. He is determined to make an impression this pre-season to force his way into head coach Christian Ilzer’s plans.

“He’s still very young, but he’s learning every day and getting stronger. The feedback from the technical team has been positive, and if he continues this trajectory, we believe he can earn his chance in the first team next season,” the source added.

Afrifa also featured for Ghana’s U20 national team at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, showcasing his potential on the continental stage.
