The January transfer window gives clubs a chance to reinforce their squads midway into the season as they push for titles or European aspirations. While some sides return for players they narrowly missed out on during the summer, others seek to add new targets to their team.

Several African footballers have been in the news amid transfer speculations this month. Some have already secured moves, while others continue to attract interests from multiple clubs as they seek new challenges elsewhere.

With less than two weeks left before the window closes, here are five African footballers who could be on the move before the end of the month.

Ademola Lookman

Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman submitted a transfer request to Italian club Atalanta last summer as he pushed for a move away from the club.

La Dea rejected multiple bids from rivals Inter Milan for the Super Eagles star, who was first exiled from the first-team before he was reinstated a few weeks after.

Atalanta have already signed Italy international Giacomo Raspadori this month, which could pave way for a possible departure for Lookman. The 28-year-old could join either Atletico Madrid or Turkish champions Galatasaray, while European champions PSG are also long admirers.

Karl Etta Eyong

Cameroon forward Karl Etta Eyong is another African star poised for a transfer this January.

The young striker netted the first goal for the Indomitable Lions at the recently concluded African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco and has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.

Levante have already rejected a bid of โ‚ฌ30 million from CSKA Moscow, while Arsenal and Chelsea have also signaled their intent in signing the 22-year-old.

Terem Moffi

Nigerian forward Terem Moffi has not featured for French club OGC Nice in over a month, after he was subject of physical assault from the club supporters.

The striker was attacked by fans after a league defeat to Lorient in December alongside some of his teammates.

Moffi was placed on sick leave by the Eaglets, but is actively seeking for an exit from the club this month and has already attracted strong interest from Auxerre.

Yan Diomande

Ivory Coast international Yan Diomande has been widely tipped to leave German side RB Leipzig this month, with strong links to English giants Liverpool and Chelsea.

The former are seeking to reinforce their attack with the uncertain future of Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah, while the Blues view him as a long-term option for the attack.

However, it would take a mouthwatering offer for the Red Bull club to sanction a sale this month, as the 19-year-old does not have a release clause, while his contract runs until 2030.

Emmanuel Agbadou

Ivory Coast defender Emmanuel Agbadou has attracted interest from Turkish side Besiktas, who are looking into the market for defensive reinforcements this month.

The 28-year-old is also open to the move, although it could prove difficult with Wolves, who are currently fighting for survival in the English Premier League this season.
