Ghanaian defender Kelvin Lamptey-Mills in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has expressed his excitement after completing a move to Super League Greece 2 side Kampaniakos, describing the switch as a key step in his career development.

The 20-year-old centre-back signed a one-year contract with an option to extend, opting for the Greek outfit despite receiving a lucrative offer from Cypriot club MEAP Nisou.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, the young defender explained his decision to embrace the challenge in Greece.

“I chose Kampaniakos because it was a new challenge and it’s beneficial to my career. I want to help the team survive relegation and also grow as a player,” Lamptey-Mills said.

Lamptey-Mills is expected to play an important role at Kampaniakos as the club battles to avoid relegation. The Greek side have conceded 28 goals in 17 league matches, leaving them firmly in the relegation zone and in need of defensive reinforcement.

The move offers Lamptey-Mills the opportunity for regular first-team football in Europe, with the club banking on his athleticism, composure, and defensive awareness to stabilise their backline in the second half of the campaign.

Kampaniakos will be hoping the Ghanaian’s arrival can spark a turnaround as they push for survival in the highly competitive Greek second tier.
