Slavia Prague’s Nigerian defender Samuel Isife is set for a temporary move away from the club during the ongoing winter transfer window, with reports in the Czech Republic suggesting the right-back will be sent out on loan to continue his development.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, a source close to the player and who helped facilitate his move to the Czech Republic confirmed that a January switch is imminent.

“Yes, he will make a move this January as the club want him to get as much playing time as he can so that his development can be better,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

The source added that Slavia remain fully committed to Isife’s future:

“Slavia love the player and they prefer him to stay in the Czech Republic rather than go to another league. They want him near them so that they can monitor him.”

Cultural adaptation has also played a role in the club’s decision.

“For them, he is one for the future. If he stays in the country, he will be better in understanding the culture, language and other things,” the source added.

Importantly, the proposed loan deal will not include a purchase clause.

“The deal is without a buy-back option, so I reckon the club still believe in him and want him to be part of their future plans. So yes, I can confirm that he will go out on loan this winter transfer window, but he will stay in the country,” he added.

Isife, a product of the renowned 36 Lions Academy in Nigeria owned by respected agent Lamideed Gaffar, is regarded as one of the promising Nigerian youngsters currently plying his trade in Europe.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a steady rise since making the move to the Czech Republic, initially featuring for Vlašim before joining Dukla Prague and eventually sealing a move to Slavia Prague this January even though he remained on loan with the parent club and only joined Prague this January.

Isife has made his presence felt with registering 17 appearances and providing seven assists for Dukla, numbers that shows his attacking quality from right-back as he has also played in the midfield to show his versatility.

However, Slavia believe a loan move will better serve his long-term growth.
