Gambian midfielder Muhammed Hydara is set for a new chapter in his blossoming career after completing a move from Slovakian second-tier side FK Pohronie to Latvian top league club FS Jelgava on a three-year permanent contract, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

The 21-year-old, who rose through the ranks at BST Galaxy FC in The Gambia, has been one of the standout performers in Slovakia this season. Hydara impressed with his consistency and attacking influence from midfield, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 16 league appearances for Pohronie.

His eye-catching displays did not go unnoticed, attracting interest from clubs beyond Slovakia, with FS Jelgava eventually securing his signature as they look to strengthen their squad for domestic and continental ambitions.

The move to Latvia’s top flight represents a significant step forward for the young midfielder, offering him the platform to compete at a higher level and continue his rapid development.

Known for his energy, vision, and ability to contribute both defensively and offensively, Hydara is expected to add dynamism and creativity to Jelgava’s midfield. His journey from local football in The Gambia to making waves in European leagues also highlights the growing impact of Gambian talent abroad.

As he prepares to begin life in Latvia, all eyes will be on Muhammed Hydara to see if he can replicate—and build on—the form that made him one of the most exciting young players in the Slovak second tier.
