Denmark’s Aarhus GF have moved decisively to secure the signature of highly rated Ugandan forward James Bogere, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
All parties now in agreement and the teenager set to join the Danish Superliga side in January, pending official confirmation from the club.
Footy-Africa understands that Bogere has signed a long-term contract with Aarhus, completing his move from the renowned El Cambio Academy, where he has been one of the most exciting prospects to emerge in recent years.
Aarhus GF step ahead in race to sign Uganda’s rising star James Bogere
The agreement ends weeks of reported competition from several Premier League and European clubs, who had been closely monitoring the 17-year-old following his explosive performances on the international stage.
Bogere was one of Uganda’s standout stars at the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup, scoring twice against Canada and France as the Cubs powered into the round of 16. His profile had already soared after a dominant U17 AFCON qualification campaign, in which he netted seven goals in four matches, including two hat-tricks.
According to data from WhoScored, he also led the U17 AFCON charts for successful dribbles with 35, more than the Ivory Coast’s Moise Diarrassouba (31) and fellow Ugandan Richard Okello (24).
Aarhus, however, were the club that impressed both player and academy, offering a structured development plan in a calm, high-performance environment tailored for young talent.

In an exclusive comment to Footy-Africa, a source within El Cambio Academy confirmed the breakthrough:
“Yes, everything is agreed. James has signed with Aarhus, and he will officially join them in January. For us, like I indicated previously, his development comes first, and we believe Denmark provides the ideal pathway for him before moving on to even bigger stages.”
With documents finalised and only the club statement pending, Bogere’s move to Denmark is now set to become the next significant milestone in his rapidly rising career.
