Gambian forward Abdoulie Manneh is edging closer to a move to English Championship side Birmingham City FC after an agreement was reached with Swedish champions Mjällby AIF for his transfer this winter, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.

According to sources close to the deal, the transfer agreement between Birmingham City and Mjällby AIF has been fully concluded.

With the clubs aligned, attention now turns to personal terms with the player. Negotiations are ongoing, but these are not expected to pose any major obstacles, with all parties optimistic of a swift conclusion.

The 21-year-old has been one of the most sought-after young talents in Europe following a breakthrough campaign in Sweden, attracting interest from several clubs across the continent. English Premier League outfits and Championship sides were monitoring his situation, with Coventry City FC among those strongly linked, but Birmingham City have now moved decisively to secure his signature.

Manneh played a pivotal role in Mjällby AIF’s historic 2024 season, helping the club lift their first-ever league title. His impact in the final third was crucial, as he netted seven league goals and provided three assists, showcasing his pace, intelligence, and growing maturity at the highest level of Swedish football.

Beyond the statistics, his performances consistently troubled defences and underlined his reputation as one of Scandinavia’s most exciting young attackers.

If completed, the move would mark a significant step forward in Manneh’s career, offering him the platform to test himself in one of Europe’s most competitive second tiers. For Birmingham City, his arrival would signal clear intent as the club looks to bolster its attacking options with youthful quality and potential.
