Allan Okello’s time at Vipers SC has officially come to an end, with the Ugandan playmaker completing a high-profile transfer to Tanzanian powerhouse Young Africans SC, bringing down the curtain on one of the most defining spells of his professional career.
After nearly two seasons of glittering performances at Kitende, Okello departs having helped transform Vipers into the dominant force of Ugandan football. His final act in a Venoms shirt was to inspire the club to a historic 2024/25 domestic double, as they swept to both the Uganda Premier League and the Stanbic Uganda Cup titles.
Young Africans have long admired the 28-year-old, and after months of quiet pursuit, the Dar es Salaam giants finally got their man, landing one of the most accomplished midfielders in East Africa. The deal, reported to be in the region of $300,000, underlines the premium now attached to Okello’s name on the regional market.

Few players leave Ugandan football in better form than Okello. The elegant midfielder was in devastating attacking rhythm throughout the 2024/25 campaign, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 19 goals, a remarkable feat for a player whose natural role is to create rather than finish.
Across his Vipers league career, he racked up 24 goals and 13 assists in just 58 appearances, a statistical footprint that reflects both productivity and consistency.
Okello also stamped his authority beyond the local scene. In the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, he was central to Vipers’ run to the second preliminary round, producing mature and composed displays against elite African opposition that further elevated his standing on the continent.

Young Africans believe Okello is the final piece in their push to dominate domestically and compete deeper in the CAF Champions League. By securing his signature, they have added creativity, experience and a proven match-winner to an already ambitious squad.

In Dar es Salaam, Okello will walk a familiar path for Ugandan stars, following in the footsteps of Steven Bengo, Emmanuel Okwi, Diego Hamis and Khalid Aucho, all of whom have previously worn the famous green and yellow of Yanga.
