Allan Okello may already have pulled on a Vipers SC shirt for the final time this season after featuring in the 2–0 victory over Mbarara City, with his long-anticipated move to Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC now at an advanced stage.

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC and African giants Young Africans are set to reach an agreement over the transfer of the 2024/25 top-scorer and Ugandan international Allan Okello.

Okello arrived at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, in September 2023 as a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Algerian side AC Paradou. With just six months left on his current deal, Vipers were open to negotiations and have opted to cash in rather than risk losing the midfielder for nothing.

Footy-Africa understands that Young Africans will part with a fee in the region of $300,000 to secure the signature of the former KCCA FC academy graduate, underlining the high value placed on his creativity and experience.

Storm and Heartbreak: Okello miss leaves Uganda and Tanzania locked

A source close to Okello’s representatives, NextPro, confirmed to Footy-Africa that the situation and hinted that an announcement could come soon.

“Everything important has been agreed,” the source revealed. “The clubs are aligned, Allan is happy with the project at Young Africans, and it is now a matter of completing the remaining procedures. The move is imminent.”

The negotiations were further accelerated after Young Africans president Hersi Said travelled to Uganda on Friday, holding face-to-face talks with Vipers SC president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, a meeting that proved decisive in pushing the deal towards completion.

During his time at Kitende, Okello added silverware to his résumé, winning both the Uganda Premier League and the Uganda Cup, while establishing himself as one of the league’s most influential creative midfielders. Young Africans see him as a key upgrade in their attacking build-up as they push for a deeper run in the CAF Champions League.

If completed, Okello will join a familiar Ugandan lineage at the Jangwani-based club, following in the footsteps of Steven Bengo, Emmanuel Okwi, Diego Hamis, and Khalid Aucho, all of whom have previously turned out for the Tanzanian champions.

Barring any late twists, the curtain appears set to fall on Okello’s Vipers chapter, with Dar es Salaam now firmly in sight as the next destination in his career.
