AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has acknowledged the growing speculation surrounding Antoine Semenyo’s future, conceding that while the club is keen to retain the Ghanaian winger, his fate may ultimately be decided elsewhere.

Semenyo, 25, has emerged as one of the Premier League’s standout wide attackers this season, attracting interest from several heavyweight clubs. Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been linked in recent months, and new reports now indicate that Chelsea have made enquiries about a potential January move for the former Bristol City forward.

Bournemouth consider options as Antoine Semenyo future raises questions

Speaking candidly about the situation, Iraola praised Semenyo’s professionalism and consistency, while admitting the realities of the modern transfer market.

“Antoine Semenyo right now is with us. He’s playing very well. My concern is that it doesn’t affect him. He’s played very well, he’s committed to the team, and I hope we can keep him. There are things happening out of our control. Antoine, for me, has been performing very well. The level of consistency has been very good since the beginning of the season. He’s very valuable for us, not just the numbers, but a lot of things,” Iraola stated.

“You never know what is going to happen. In the summer there were a lot of movements. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the winter movements. At the end, you sign a contract and understand that both parties are happy. I hope we don’t lose him, but I don’t know, I can’t control what’s going to happen,” he concluded.

Semenyo only recently committed his long-term future to Bournemouth, signing a new deal that runs until 2030. However, that contract includes a £65 million release clause, which becomes active during the January transfer window, a figure that may not deter elite clubs in search of attacking reinforcements.

On the pitch, the Ghana international has justified the attention with a superb 2025–26 campaign so far. He has registered eight goals and three assists in 16 Premier League appearances, playing a crucial role in Bournemouth’s attacking threat with his pace, power and work rate.

Tottenham ready to tear up pay scale in bold move for Antoine Semenyo

For now, Semenyo remains focused on football matters, as the Cherries prepare to host Brentford at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday. With his form and confidence high, Bournemouth will once again be hoping their prized winger delivers, even as uncertainty continues to swirl around his longer-term future.
