Former Cameroon international Eric Djemba Djemba, who previously featured for Manchester United in the Premier League, in exclusive interview with Footy-Africa backed Carlos Baleba‘s potentional transfer to the Red Devils.

Massively talented 21-year-old has been linked with a move away from Brighton & Hove Albion with Man United reportedly preparing an offer to secure his signature at the ongoing transfer window.

“Baleba is currently among the top defensive and box-to-box midfielders in the Premier League, and joining Manchester United wouldn’t surprise me at all,” Djemba Djemba exclusively told Footy-Africa.

“It would be a masterstroke of a deal for both the player and Manchester United. He’s a massive passer and a shield to the backline, but also great going upfront, which is what Ruben Amorim desires. Baleba would also improve his game working in a project under a whole new rebuild,” he added.

The Indomitable Lions star, who is one of the finest defensive midfielders in Europe, has been earmarked by the Red Devils as the perfect fit for the team, in a bid to build a competitive set-up.

“For me, that would only spell good news for Cameroon to be honest. The only negative about this deal is that Brighton would be losing a massive asset. He’s such a beast, yet he also has the ability to pass at range and shoot,” Djemba Djemba concluded.

Baleba, who is just 21, played 40 times for Brighton last season across all competitions, and chipped in with four goals and two assists. He has played 77 matches in his two campaigns at the Amex, having joined them from Lille at the start of the 2023/24 season.
