The Ghana national football team are gearing up for a demanding set of international friendlies with renewed belief, as the Ghana Football Association underscores the team’s determination to make a statement ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With preparations gathering momentum, GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has emphasized that both players and technical staff are fully locked in, with their sights set on impressive displays against European opposition.

Ghana’s first assignment comes against Austria this Friday, before a tougher challenge away to Germany on March 30. These fixtures are widely viewed as crucial benchmarks in assessing the squad’s readiness on the global stage.

“We face Austria and Germany in the friendlies with a strong spirit and aim for good results,” Asante Twum said in an interview with Asempa FM.

Beyond the European tests, the Black Stars have also lined up additional friendlies against Mexico and Wales later in May and June. Those matches are expected to fine-tune the squad before the World Cup kicks off.

At the tournament, set to be hosted across United States, Canada, and Mexico, Ghana have been drawn into a challenging Group L. They will battle for progression against Panama, England, and Croatia.

With a packed schedule and rising expectations, the Black Stars are using these encounters not just as preparation, but as an opportunity to build momentum and confidence ahead of football’s biggest stage.
