Young Ghanaian midfielder Yussif Moro Owusu has signed his first professional contract with Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion after impressing in their youth setup, Footy-Africa can confirm.

The 19-year-old, who joined Brighton from Chelsea’s academy two seasons ago, has grown into one of the most highly-rated players in the club’s U21 team. Standing at 6ft 4in, Owusu’s physicality, composure, and intelligence on the ball have caught the attention of the club’s technical team, earning him training opportunities with the first team.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa.com, his agent Papa Agyemang described the deal as a key step in his development.

“He’s at the right club to continue his development at this stage. Brighton have placed trust in him. Now it’s time to achieve the targets we’ve set for him,” he said.

Owusu, who was born in England to Ghanaian parents, has been playing football since childhood and is known for his versatility in midfield, able to operate both as a deep-lying playmaker and a box-to-box option.

Brighton, aware of growing interest from rival English clubs and scouts in Europe, moved quickly to secure his future with a professional contract. The hope within the club is that Owusu will continue progressing and break into the senior team in the near future.

The teenager remains eligible to represent Ghana at international level, and his recent rise is expected to place him firmly on the radar of the national team setup if his development continues on its current path.
