Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to reveal the Black Stars’ final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday as all participating nations race to meet FIFA’s official squad submission deadline.

The Portuguese tactician has spent the past week assessing players in Cardiff, where Ghana has been holding a training camp with a provisional group of 28 players ahead of the tournament in North America.

With FIFA requiring every qualified country to submit its definitive player list by June 1, Queiroz and his backroom staff are now set to trim the squad and confirm the players who will represent Ghana at the global showpiece in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The announcement will provide clarity on the final composition of the squad after days of intensive training sessions and evaluations in Wales.

Once the squad is confirmed, attention will immediately shift to Ghana’s remaining preparation matches. The Black Stars are scheduled to take on Wales in an international friendly on June 2 before rounding off their pre-World Cup programme against Jamaica on June 10.

Ghana heads into the tournament aiming to make a significant impact and secure a place in the knockout rounds for the first time since the country’s historic run to the quarter-finals at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The upcoming competition will be the Black Stars’ fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage, with expectations high as the team seeks to write another memorable chapter in its World Cup history.

Drawn in Group L, Ghana faces a challenging path against Panama, England and Croatia.

The Black Stars will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field before facing England in one of the group stage’s headline fixtures on June 23 at Gillette Stadium. Their first-round journey concludes on June 27 with a crucial encounter against Croatia.
