Christopher Bonsu Baah in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has stated that he is delighted after being named in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the call-up as a dream come true.

The 21-year-old winger has been rewarded for an outstanding season with Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah, where he established himself as one of the club’s key attacking players.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, Bonsu Baah admitted he was overwhelmed with excitement after learning he would be heading to football’s biggest tournament with the Black Stars.

“I’m very happy. It’s a dream for every footballer to play at the World Cup, and now I have this opportunity with Ghana,” he said. “I feel excited and grateful because this is something I’ve worked hard for throughout my career.”

The former Genk winger has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Saudi Arabia, registering three goals and 13 assists in 32 league appearances.

His performances convinced Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz to include him in the final squad despite intense competition for places in attack.

Bonsu Baah believes his strong club form played a major role in earning the call-up but insists he is not satisfied with simply making the squad:

“I always try to improve and help my team. This call-up gives me more motivation to keep working hard and prove myself.”

The winger joins a Ghana squad that blends experienced campaigners such as Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey and Inaki Williams with a new generation of emerging talent.

Bonsu Baah is now focused on making the most of the opportunity and helping Ghana achieve its objectives at the tournament:

“I want to enjoy the experience, learn from the senior players and do everything I can to help Ghana. Representing your country at the World Cup is a special feeling.”

The Black Stars will conclude their preparations with a friendly against Wales before travelling to North America for the tournament, where they have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
