Ghana U-20 midfielder Lord Afrifa is attracting interest from clubs in Belgium and Austria after agreeing with SK Sturm Graz not to extend his stay beyond this summer, Footy-Africom can confirm.
Afrifa signed a two-year contract with Sturm Graz in 2024 after joining from Ghanaian side Great Olympics following his impressive performances for Ghana at U20 level.
With the deal now nearing its end, both the player and the Austrian club have mutually agreed not to activate the option to continue the partnership, paving the way for the midfielder to become a free agent this summer.
Sources close to the player say several clubs in Belgium and Austria are already monitoring the situation closely ahead of the transfer window.
The 20-year-old has spent the last two seasons with Sturm Graz II in the Austrian second division, where he continued his development and gained valuable experience in European football.
Afrifa made 20 appearances in the Austrian 2. Liga this season and registered one assist. He also featured 20 times during the previous campaign after arriving in Austria.
The midfielder is regarded as a composed and technically strong player with good positional discipline, qualities that have drawn interest from clubs searching for young midfield options ahead of next season.
His performances in Austria have also kept him on the radar following his earlier breakthrough with Ghana’s U-20 side.
Afrifa is now expected to assess his options carefully in the coming weeks as interest grows in both Belgium and Austria ahead of his free agency.
