Gambian winger Alieu Fadera has officially joined Cagliari Calcio on loan from Como 1907, with an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.
The deal includes a potential long-term contract running until 2031, structured as an initial one-year agreement followed by four additional years should Cagliari exercise the purchase option.
Fadera completed his move today and could immediately be involved for Cagliari, with the Scorpions winger already in contention for the club’s league opener against Parma Calcio.
The 24-year-old returns to Serie A after spending last season on loan at Sassuolo, where he made 28 league appearances.

His representative, Saikou Saidy, in an exclusive conversation with Footy-Africa the move provides Fadera with exactly what he needs at this stage of his career — regular playing time.
“Honestly, every player wants to have minutes and express themselves. This is also a coach who wants him since last year and we believe he will play. It is a good environment, but the same league. Nothing new. He just needs to play.”
Saidy is also optimistic that the temporary move could eventually become permanent, although he acknowledged that Fadera’s performances will ultimately determine whether Cagliari activate the option.
“We are very positive about him signing permanently at the end of the season but that depends on the player’s performance too. But I know he needs to play and when given the chance, he will prove it.”

Fadera joined Como from Belgian side KRC Genk in 2024 and remains under contract with the Italian club. After an inconsistent spell at Sassuolo, the move to Cagliari gives the Gambian international another opportunity to establish himself in Serie A.
