Following a failed attempt during the January transfer window, Georgian side FC Dila Gori have renewed their pursuit of Ugandan international and prodigy Travis Mutyaba, as they hope to lure him away from French side Girondins Bordeaux, Footy-Africa has exclusively learned.

Dila Gori nearly signed Mutyaba six months ago for a reported fee of €420,000 to Bordeaux, but the player declined to move, opting instead to remain at the club. At the time, he had only been at Bordeaux for three months. It’s worth noting that his contract runs until the summer of 2027.

A source close to his representatives, Prosper Sports Agency, has exclusively revealed that the 19-year-old is back on Dila Gori’s radar, and that the Georgian club has reopened talks with both the player’s camp and Girondins Bordeaux. The club has tabled a four-year contract offer for Mutyaba.

“They [Dila Gori] are back and determined this time, having had two previous failed attempts, the most recent being in January. Back then, they had an agreement with Bordeaux, but not with the player. Now, they want to convince him to move. Dila Gori have offered Travis (Mutyaba) a four-year deal with significantly better financial terms than he currently earns in France. There’s positivity from all parties, although the deal is still in its early stages,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

Last season at Bordeaux, Mutyaba—whose current market value is estimated at €100,000 by Transfermarkt—made 24 appearances across Ligue 2 and the Coupe de France. He also featured three times for the reserve team, scoring one goal and registering one assist.

Previously, he played for Zamalek in Egypt, helping the team win the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup. He also turned out for Ugandan giants SC Villa, the Vipers Junior Team, Synergy in the Futsal competition, Bulemeezi in the Buganda Masaza Cup, as well as Gombe High School and St. Mary’s Secondary School, Kitende.

Internationally, Mutyaba has risen through the ranks, representing Uganda at U15, U17, U20, and U23 levels, as well as the senior national team, the Uganda Cranes. Since making his senior debut in 2021, he has contributed two goals and six assists in 24 competitive matches.
