Ghana midfielder Elisha Owusu has agreed a two-year deal with newly promoted Turkish side Erzurumspor, with an option for an additional year, Footy-Africa can report.
The deal is expected to be completed this week, with Owusu scheduled to travel to Turkey on Monday to undergo his medical before completing the move.
The 28-year-old is set to become one of Erzurumspor’s highest earners, with the Turkish club agreeing to more than double his current salary at French side Auxerre.
Owusu currently earns around €1.45 million gross per year at Auxerre, with his new contract expected to significantly improve his earnings in Turkey.
Footy-Africa can confirm that Erzurumspor will pay Auxerre around €1 million for the transfer, excluding performance-related bonuses.
The fee has reportedly disappointed some fans given Owusu’s experience and importance to the club. However, sources say his strong relationship with Auxerre played an important role in the negotiations.
Owusu had already agreed to leave the French club, making it easier for Erzurumspor to negotiate favourable terms despite the midfielder having one year remaining on his contract.
The Ghanaian joined Auxerre from Gent in January 2023 for around €500,000 and became an important figure at the club. He also served as captain until May.
Owusu made 29 appearances last season and featured in all three of Ghana’s matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Bundesliga side Hoffenheim had previously shown interest in the midfielder, but no deal materialised.
Owusu came through the Lyon academy before establishing himself in senior football in France and Belgium.
He is now set to begin a new chapter in Turkey with Erzurumspor, subject to completing his medical.
