Rumors are swirling once again that Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr could return to the market for Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface.

This fresh wave of speculation follows news that Colombian forward Jhon Duran, who joined Al Nassr during the last transfer window, is set to leave the club.

Reports suggest Duran is being loaned out to Turkish side Fenerbahce, where manager Jose Mourinho is said to be an admirer.

Interestingly, Boniface had been on Al Nassr’s radar before Duran’s arrival, with the Saudi club nearly signing the Nigerian striker before opting for the Colombian instead.

Now, with Duran likely on his way out, Al Nassr appears ready to revisit their interest in Boniface, who currently plies his trade with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

So far, neither Boniface nor his representatives have commented publicly on the renewed links. However, former Nigerian youth international Sambo Choji has urged the 24-year-old to resist the lure of the Middle East at least for now.

“I think Victor Boniface is too young to go to Al Nassr now because if you look at it, if he wants to have a chance in the national team, then he should stay in Europe,” said Choji, a member of Nigeria’s 1993 FIFA U17 World Cup-winning team.

Choji, who also spent time in the Germany with Rumors are swirling once again that Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr could return to the market for Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface.

“We have a lot of attackers doing well in Europe so he has to stay in Germany to prove himself. It is unfortunate he had a lot of injuries last season, ups and downs which is normal, but for someone like him, he can still prove himself in Europe and in Germany.”

“My honest advice for him is to stay. He is young and strong. If he has a good preseason, his story is going to change and he will be a better player than previous seasons,” he added. “I hope he stays. He is a very young and good player and has a lot to show in the Bundesliga. He will be a better player if he stays in Germany as I feel the Bundesliga fits him very well.”

Despite struggling with injuries and some off-field distractions last season, Boniface still managed to score 11 goals and provide two assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
