Five Nigerian younsgters are set to begin their European careers after making the jump from One Touch Football Academy in Nigeria to Lithuanian side FK Kauno Žalgiris, Footy-Africa can confirm.
The talented youngsters were discovered through a scouting programme organised by Babawo Mohammed and his associates under the CSC Agency 2025 scouting initiative – an annual platform designed to unearth and promote football talents across Nigeria.
Over the years, similar programmes have helped players such as Prosper Obah, Chidozie Awaziem, and Igoh Ogbu transition from local academies to professional careers in Europe.
The five players were officially signed by Kaunas Žalgiris on four-year deals on Wednesday. Ibrahim Gambo, Akusobi Davis, and Al-Amin Khalid have already arrived in Lithuania and joined up with their new teammates, while Victor Okechukwu and Kabir Adetunji are expected to link up with the squad next week.
According to Babawo Mohammed, who facilitated the deals, the players stood out as the best prospects from the most recent scouting exercise.
“These players are the latest products of our annual One Touch Scouting Programme. They were all cleared with One Touch Football Club as part of our collaboration with CSC Agency for this year,” he exclusively told Footy-Africa. “After a thorough screening process, they were selected, and Žalgiris wasted no time in offering them four-year deals because they were convinced of their talent.”
“The lads now have a chance to show the world what they can do. Personally, I believe Žalgiris will provide the right environment for them to grow and mature both as players and as individuals. There is a lot of talent in Nigeria, and we will continue to do our best to give these players opportunities to progress in their careers. Another batch is expected this summer, and we hope they will also make the move to Europe,” he added.
In terms of playing profiles, Ibrahim Gambo is a versatile midfielder capable of operating as a playmaker or in an advanced role, while Akusobi Davis is a tough-tackling centre-back who can also function as a defensive midfielder.
Al-Amin Khalid adds steel in midfield, while Victor Okechukwu and Kabir Adetunji bring pace and creativity on the wings.
All five players will now look to make their mark as they begin their European adventure in Lithuania.
