Italian Serie A side Genoa have reportedly identified highly-rated Ghanaian youngster Samuel Wiafe as a potential transfer target ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
The teenage midfielder, who is currently on the books of Serie B outfit Modena, has attracted growing attention in Italy following a breakthrough campaign that showcased his immense potential and maturity beyond his age.
Wiafe, 17, enjoyed an impressive rise during the recently concluded season after excelling with Modena’s U-19 team. His performances at youth level earned him opportunities with the senior side under head coach Andrea Sottil, who handed the promising midfielder nine appearances with the first team.
The youngster’s rapid development has now sparked interest from Genoa, who are reportedly considering a move to strengthen their long-term project with one of the brightest emerging talents in Italian football.

According to reports from Italian outlet Sportmediaset, the Rossoblu are closely monitoring Wiafe’s situation and could launch an official approach in the coming months as they seek to reinforce their academy and future first-team prospects.
Wiafe only signed his maiden professional contract with Modena earlier this year on January 8, 2026, but his performances since then have significantly elevated his profile.
Across all competitions this season, the gifted Ghanaian midfielder made 29 appearances, scoring seven goals while also contributing four assists in a remarkable campaign that underlined his creativity, composure, and attacking quality from midfield.
Although he has featured for Italy at U-17 level, Wiafe remains eligible to represent Ghana internationally, with many already tipping him as a potential future star for the Black Stars if his development continues on its current trajectory.
