Ghana football icon Asamoah Gyan has openly expressed his admiration for Nigeria’s prolific striker Victor Osimhen, naming the Super Eagles forward as the attacker he enjoys watching the most in world football right now.

The former Black Stars captain showered praise on the Galatasaray hitman, describing him as the modern-day definition of a complete centre-forward. Speaking during an appearance on Rio Presents with former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, Gyan went a step further by passionately appealing to his beloved Manchester United to pursue the Nigerian star.

“My favourite striker now, Victor Osimhen. He loves scoring goals,” he told Rio Ferdinand on Rio Presents.

Gyan highlighted Osimhen’s relentless work ethic, physical presence, and emotional connection to the game as qualities that set him apart from his peers:

“Victor Osimhen plays with the heart. He gives everything. I like those kind of strikers. I’m surprised the big clubs didn’t come for him this transfer window. I am appealing to Manchester United to if only he wants to come.”

Osimhen, crowned Africa Player of the Year in 2023, has continued to justify his status as one of the continent’s finest exports. He has been in scintillating form this season, delivering decisive performances for both club and country.

At the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Nigerian forward has been a standout figure, registering four goals and two assists in six appearances, spearheading Nigeria’s charge deep into the tournament.

However, his quest to lift the continental crown ended in heartbreak after the Super Eagles were edged out by tournament hosts Morocco in a tense semi-final clash decided by penalties.

Despite the disappointment, Osimhen’s displays have only reinforced his reputation as one of the most feared strikers in the game, an assessment clearly shared by one of Africa’s greatest forwards, Asamoah Gyan.
