Super Eagles winger Henry Onyekuru‘s career has hit a crossroads after his exit from Genclerbirliği, but there is a silver lining forming as clubs in the Süper Lig and Turkey’s second division begin to circle the free agent, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
A source close to Footy-Africa, based in Turkey, revealed that the winger already has options on the table, with interest coming from both flanks of Turkish football.
“Henry (Onyekuru) had to leave the club because of some reasons that the player and club could not agree, and so he is free now, like I told you before,” the source said. “Right now, he is on the radar of two clubs in the top flight in Turkey and others in the second division. His close friend Kelechi Iheanacho has moved to Bursaspor, and he might soon follow him there.”
“But he does have offers, and he is taking his time to think about his future and the next step. He is in a good place right now, and he will sign for a club soon. The offers are there, but he is taking his time after the way and manner he left Genclerbirliği.”
The Turkish outfit have terminated Onyekuru’s contract by mutual consent following a difficult season, closing the book on an agreement that still had two years to run.
Onyekuru joined Genclerbirliği in the summer of 2025 in a move from Saudi Arabian side Al-Fayha, but his spell in the capital never took off.

The former Galatasaray winger failed to register a single goal or assist in 19 appearances and was dropped for the final eight games of the campaign amid reports of unpaid wages and a refusal to play.
As part of the settlement, Onyekuru, 29, will pocket €940,000, and he is now free to negotiate with any club as he plots his next move.
With Iheanacho already settled at Bursaspor, a reunion with his close friend remains a live possibility, though Onyekuru appears in no rush to rush his decision after a bruising campaign in the capital.
Erzurumspor are among the clubs credited with interest, and further suitors are expected to emerge as the free agent market heats up.
