KCCA FC are closing in on one of the biggest domestic transfer coups of the window, with highly rated attacking midfielder Ibrahim Owen Kasule edging ever closer to a return to Ugandan football as negotiations enter their decisive phase, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Footy-Africa sources indicate that discussions between the Lugogo-based outfit and the player’s representatives have gathered considerable momentum over the past few days, leaving only the final contractual details to be resolved before the move is formally concluded.
The race for Kasule’s signature had initially attracted serious interest from Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC, who identified the 22-year-old as a key addition to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
However, the Venoms have since cooled their pursuit after securing the services of experienced Uganda Cranes midfielder Farouk Miya, whose arrival effectively satisfied the club’s need for a creative presence in midfield.
That development has left KCCA in pole position, with the Kasasiro Boys now on course to secure the signature of one of Uganda’s most technically gifted young playmakers.
Kasule is currently on loan at CT United in MLS NEXT Pro from New York Red Bulls II, but his stay in the United States appears to be drawing to a close as talks over a switch to Lugogo progress positively. Both parties are understood to be aligned on the framework of the agreement, with only minor details preventing the deal from being sealed.
Widely regarded as one of Uganda’s finest talents of his generation, Kasule’s football journey has taken him through Kampala Junior Team (KJT), Nansana United and Wakiso Giants, where his flair, vision and intelligence in possession quickly distinguished him from his peers.
His development was further enhanced through appearances for Buddu Ssaza in the prestigious Masaza Cup, while his exploits for St. Lawrence University in the University Football League reinforced his reputation as one of the country’s most exciting creative midfielders.
In March 2023, Kasule earned a move to the United States after signing for New York Red Bulls II. He enjoyed notable success there, helping the club lift the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Cup before joining CT United on loan to continue his development.
Should the transfer be completed as anticipated, KCCA would secure a statement signing ahead of the 2026/27 season, providing head coach Brian Ssenyondo with an inventive attacking outlet as the 13-time league champions continue rebuilding a squad capable of challenging for major honours once again.
