Ghanaian left-back Hamidu Abdul Fatawu sealed a move to Algerian Ligue 1 newbies MB Rouissat on a free transfer, following the end of his spell with Egyptian side Ghazl El Mahalla.

Talking exclusively to Footy-Africa, the 26-year-old, who first moved abroad in July 2024 after impressing with Ghanaian side Medeama SC in the CAF Champions League, said the opportunity to join Rouissat felt right from the start.

“This is a big step for me and my career. Joining Rouissat in their first Ligue 1 season is special, and I’m here to give everything I have,” he told Footy-Africa in an exclusive interview.

“I believe my experience can help the team, and together, we can make history for the club. Not many people expect us to compete, but we are here to show up and give our best, history beckons and I’m excited to be part of it,” he added.

Fatawu’s contract with El Mahalla expired at the close of the 2024-25 season, after making 22 appearances across all competitions. Known for his solid defensive work and attacking support, Abdul Fatawu quickly became a mainstay in the Egyptian Premier League during his one-year stay.

Meanwhile, Abdul Fatawu is a full Ghana international, as he earned his senior national team debut in 2024, putting in a standout performance in the Black Stars’ 3-1 win over Liberia in the Africa Cup of Nations.
