Uganda Premier League Golden Boot winner Ivan Ahimbisibwe has completed a transfer to Iraqi club Zhako SC, bringing his spell at KCCA FC to an end after just one season.

The 2025/26 league’s leading marksman has signed a two-year contract with the Iraqi outfit after an outstanding campaign in which he scored 14 league goals to claim the Golden Boot and secure a place in the Uganda Premier League Team of the Season.

Popularly known as “The Hunter”, Ahimbisibwe attracted interest following his prolific displays for the Kasasiro Boys. Negotiations over a new contract failed to produce an agreement, prompting KCCA to sanction his sale with only one year remaining on his existing deal rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next year.

The move marks the latest step in the striker’s steady rise, having previously featured for UPDF FC and URA FC before earning his switch to KCCA.

On the international stage, Ahimbisibwe has made five appearances for the Uganda Cranes, registering one goal and one assist. He was also part of Uganda’s squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, further underlining his growing reputation as one of the country’s most reliable forwards.

His move to Zhako SC offers the 30-year-old a fresh challenge abroad as he looks to build on the most productive season of his career.
