Ivan Ahimbisibwe, who finished as the second-highest scorer in the recently concluded 2024/25 Uganda Premier League season, is set to sign with 13-time league champions KCCA FC, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

With his contract at URA FC set to expire on June 30, the forward has decided against renewing, preferring a move to KCCA, who are aiming to return to their former glory after going trophyless for the past six campaigns.

Ahimbisibwe’s move to KCCA follows a period of negotiations between the club and the player’s representatives at Prosper Sports Agency. KCCA acted quickly in a bid to fend off other suitors, including Kenyan giants Gor Mahia FC.

“Ivan (Ahimbisibwe) has already signed for KCCA, but his unveiling will wait until he is officially off URA’s books on June 30. The deal is done, and he will 100% play for KCCA next season. The new coach, Brian Ssenyondo, worked with him at UPDF FC some years back and is a huge admirer. He believes Ivan is the right man to lead the line next season,” a source at Prosper Sports Agency told Footy-Africa.

In the just-concluded season, the 29-year-old scored 16 goals and provided two assists in 29 matches for URA FC. In the 2023/24 campaign, he recorded 11 goals and three assists in 26 matches across all competitions. He has previously played for and excelled at UPDF FC and Nyamityobora FC.

Meanwhile, on the international stage, despite receiving several call-ups to the Uganda senior national team, The Cranes, Ahimbisibwe has only made three appearances and is yet to register a goal.
