Thirteen-time Uganda Premier League KCCA FC have swiftly turned down a โฌ200,000 offer from Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC for in-form midfielder Joel Sserunjogi, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Sserunjogi, who has one year left on his current contract, has been one of Ugandaโs standout performers at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN). The 23-year-old has notched one goal and one assist in three matches for Uganda, earning plaudits for his vision, energy and ability to dictate play from midfield.
โJoel (Sserunjogi) is an important player for us and for the national team, and the โฌ200,000 offer wasn’t sufficient. His performances speak for themselves, and he is not for sale at this point. There are plans to renew his contract, as he is happy at the club,โ an exclusive source close to CEO Anisha Muhoozi told Footy-Africa.

Young Africans, who are keen to bolster their squad for both domestic and CAF Champions League campaigns, were hoping to capitalize on Sserunjogiโs contract situation. However, KCCAโs stance suggests they are prepared to risk losing him for free next year rather than sell for what they consider below market value.
Last season at KCCA, he was one of the best players in the Uganda Premier League, as he racked up 32 appearances across all competitions domestically. In his two-year spell at the 10-time Uganda Cup winners, he has played 56 times. He has previously played for Kajjansi United and Buddu Ssaza.
Whether Young Africans return with an improved bid remains to be seen, but for now, Sserunjogiโs focus will be on helping Uganda progress to the knockout stages in the CHAN tournament being hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
