As exclusively called by Footy-Africa days back, South African international and midfielder Neo Maema has finally been officially unveiled as a new Simba SC player during the club’s preseason tour in Egypt.
The 29-year-old playmaker joins the Tanzanian giants after leaving former CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns, with whom he enjoyed four successful seasons. Maema has signed a three-year deal with Simba that will keep him at the club until at least the 2027/28 campaign.
At Sundowns, Maema made 123 appearances across domestic and continental competitions, registering 13 goals and 15 assists. Last season, he featured in 17 matches spanning the Premier Soccer League, CAF Champions League, Club World Cup, MTN8, and Nedbank Cup.

Before his time at Chloorkop, the creative midfielder played for Bloemfontein Celtic, where he developed into one of South Africa’s brightest attacking prospects.
With the Bafana Bafana, Maema has earned four competitive caps, scoring three goals, all during African Nations Championship qualifiers and finals.
Simba fans will now be eager to see the €1 million-valued midfielder bring his flair and creativity to the “Wekundu wa Msimbazi” as they prepare for a busy season both domestically and on the continent in the CAF Champions League.
