Ghanaian youngster Manuel Ayitey in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has expressed his delight after completing a move to Villarreal, describing the transfer as a major step in his football journey.
Footy-Africa understands the 19-year-old defender has signed a two-year contract with the Spanish club and joins on a free transfer following spells with Marbella FC and CD Pozoblanco.
Ayitey’s performances in Spain’s youth ranks attracted interest from Villarreal, who have moved to secure the services of the promising centre-back as part of their long-term plans.
Speaking to Footy-Africa, the young defender said he is determined to make the most of the opportunity.
“I am very happy with this move. Villarreal is a big club with a great project for young players, and I want to make the most of this opportunity,” Ayitey said.
“This is a big step for me, but I know the hard work starts now. I will continue working hard every day and give everything to improve.”
The Ghanaian will initially feature within Villarreal’s youth setup, where the club will monitor his development before deciding on a potential pathway to the senior team.

His agent, Ibrah Abu, is understood to have played a key role in facilitating the transfer.
