Napoli are exploring the possibility of signing Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana on loan until the end of the season, a source has exclusively confirmed to Footy-Africa.
According to the source, the move is closely linked to Atalanta’s situation involving Ademola Lookman. Lookman is reportedly pushing for a transfer, and Napoli are monitoring developments. Should Lookman leave Atalanta, Sulemana is expected to remain with the Bergamo-based club.
However, if Lookman stays, Sulemana could be allowed to depart, with Napoli maintaining close contact as the situation evolves.
Five African players eyeing moves in the January transfer window
Napoli are currently dealing with several long-term injuries to key attacking players and are eager to strengthen their squad in the final stretch of the season. Sulemana is understood to be open to the move as he seeks regular playing time.
The 23-year-old has struggled for minutes this season, making mostly substitute appearances and registering just 568 minutes in Serie A, with Lookman preferred on the left side of Atalanta’s attack.
Sulemana joined Atalanta in the summer of 2025 for a reported fee of around €17 million, reuniting with coach Ivan Jurić from their time at Southampton. Jurić, however, was dismissed three months into the season.
