Ugandan international and attacking midfielder Abraham Ndugwa is on the verge of joining English League Two side Notts County FC from Croatian third tier side NK Slavija Pleternica, Footy-Africa sources have exclusively learned.
Ndugwa will join the English side on a two-year long contract that will last till June this 2027 should he pass his medicals scheduled for Tuesday. The 29-year-old will be expected to help Notts County in their fight for promotion in the forthcoming 2025/26 season.
It should be noted that the player has been at NK Slavija Pleternica since February when his contract with FK Radnicki Sremska Mitrovica expired without renewal. With his contract at the former running down next season, the club is determined to let him exit at €410,000 as offered by Notts County.
Sources close to Ndugwa’s representatives at T&A Sport Agency, have confirmed the developments and indicated that a deal in principle has been reached at, and that he’ll travel to England on Monday.
“Negotiations have been ongoing for days and now there’s an agreement in place. Abraham (Ndugwa) will be a Notts County player by Tuesday after his medical. It’s important that he gets active again at a bigger stage. This is also a good step to move up the pyramids of English football,” the source exclusively disclosed to Footy-Africa.
Ndugwa has been labeled journeyman, as he has featured for a host of clubs across various countries in Europe,Asia and Uganda. Before his short-lived stint at FK Radnicki Sremska Mitrovica, he had played for Saned Joniskis and Dembava in Lithuania.
Previously, the midfielder also played for Serbian side Budućnost Dobanovci-pomoćni teren and Croatian outfit NK Oriolik. In Uganda, he played for six-time league champions Vipers SC, Masavu FC and Entebbe FC.
Meanwhile, at the international stage, Ndugwa has made four competitive caps for the Uganda national senior team, the Cranes, scoring one goal in the process. He also featured for the country’s U20 team in the past.
