Danish Superliga side FC Nordsjaelland have emerged as leading contenders in the race for out-of-favour Ghana international Majeed Ashimeru ahead of the January transfer window, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
The 28-year-old midfielder has once again been left out of Anderlecht’s 29-man squad for their winter training camp in Spain, further fuelling speculation over his future at the Belgian club.
Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, a source close to his agency, Libera Sports, confirmed the Danish side interest:
“Nordsjaelland are genuinely interested and discussions have already taken place. Majeed wants regular football again, and Denmark is a league that fits his qualities. We expect movement during this January window.”
Ashimeru was declared surplus to first-team requirements before the start of the season and has since been keeping match fitness with Anderlecht’s U23 side in Belgium’s second tier, scoring once in several appearances.
The former WAFA SC man joined Anderlecht in 2021 and remains under contract until 2027, leaving sporting director Olivier Renard with a key decision to make this window.
