Nigerian forward Abdullahi Tanko has signed a new contract with FK Pardubice, which will keep him at Czech side until 2030.
According to one of the player’s close confidants, the club believes in him and sees him as a senior player who can help guide the younger ones.
“Apart from being a great player for the club, they also view him as one of the most senior players in the team, and his experience can help them,” he exclusively told Footy-Africa. “The club is an ambitious one full of young players, and they want to challenge the top clubs like Sparta, Slavia and Banik Ostrava very soon.”
“Tanko is very calm but a great leader on and off the pitch, and that is why they decided to extend his contract into his thirties, I believe.”
“He brings a lot to the dressing room and also does a lot on the pitch for the team, helping others and showing up at important moments. The player is happy with the extension, the club are also happy and I believe they will see more improved performances from him,” the source added.
The pacy forward has become an integral part of the club’s first team and wants to continue his football in Pardubice, with the club’s hierarchy seeing him as a pivotal part of their future.

Tanko joined Pardubice from Baník Ostrava in January 2025 and since his arrival, he has gradually settled into the team and, in addition to his footballing qualities, has established himself among the club’s fans and officials.
The club values his experience and leadership and has now extended his contract. It is clear that his Pardubice chapter will continue for years to come.
In the 2025/2026 season, the 28-year-old appeared in 30 Chance League matches for FK Pardubice, delivering seven goals and chipping in with six assists.
This season, he has already made his mark, scoring the winner against rivals Baník Ostrava in September to make him a fan favourite.
The player has been widely travelled, playing for the likes of Gil Vicente, Chaves and Salgueiros, among other clubs, before moving to the Czech Republic, where he has turned out for the likes of Varnsdorf, Baník Ostrava and now FK Pardubice.
