At just 21, Ugandan midfielder Pius Ssebulime is steadily carving out a promising path in the United States, blending academic ambition with an increasingly impressive football journey.

Ssebulime’s American chapter began at Gardner-Webb University, where he quickly established himself as a key figure in the team. His debut season was nothing short of remarkable, earning recognition among the top 100 players of the campaign.

More telling than accolades, however, was his consistency, featuring in virtually every match and becoming a dependable presence in midfield.

Operating as a central defensive midfielder, Ssebulime showcased a well-rounded skillset. Across 18 appearances totaling 1,620 minutes, he demonstrated intelligence in reading the game, composure on the ball, and a tireless work ethic.

His numbers backed it up: 12 chances created, two decisive assists, an 80% dribble success rate, and an impressive 85% passing accuracy across both long and chipped deliveries. Defensively, he remained equally solid, registering an 81% tackle success rate alongside notable recoveries and aerial contributions.

Following his impactful stint, Ssebulime transitioned to Rutgers University, where he is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. The move represents not just a shift in environment but a step forward in both his academic and athletic development.

Parallel to his university football commitments, Ssebulime has also taken his talents to Annapolis Blues FC, a club competing in the USL League Two. There, he joins a growing contingent of Rutgers-affiliated players, including Jack Andrus, Timo Jansen, and Dan Karsten, further strengthening the synergy between the two setups.

Before embarking on his American journey, Ssebulime had already built a strong reputation back home. He captained Buddu to triumph in the Buganda Masaza Cup, represented the Uganda U-23 national team, and earned a move to KCCA FC, one of the country’s most prominent sides.

Still refining his craft, Ssebulime is widely viewed as a player with immense untapped potential. With continued growth, he could soon position himself as a viable option for the Uganda Cranes across regional, continental, and global competitions under CECAFA, CAF, and FIFA.

For now, his journey is one of steady progression, an evolving story of discipline, adaptation, and the pursuit of excellence on and off the pitch.
